There are things
that are taken for granted,
the stealth of growth:
eager buds crowning
through dirt and snow
reaching for life or a family home
it’s believed to be a given—
a place between two pillars
supported by a solid foundation
a spot where you should have thrived,
instead left in pile like an abandoned harvest.
Let us rise above it! Look to each other
found friends, our call to the outside
the muffled cry of the wild
drumming in our ears.
Until the next day breaks
reminding us, where home is:
together facing towards the sun.
