although my kids are
grown and on their own now
they live here, still
the memories of
blanket forts and bedtime stories
and their tender hearts
echo through the
empty rooms where they
once cuddled teddies
when I see them now
they hold those children close
inside themselves
to me
they’ll always partly be
those little kids
