shattered love
on the stage
your youth
your grace
your old soul
describing your journey
yet
transcending
your words
spoke into my heart
my soul
as in my row
sat the love of my life
who’d come with me
as I heard you read
and as the poem
lifted in song
it was my story
unfolding
before me
word for word
line for line
the soundtrack of my life
in two weeks’ time
my love will move
and my life will start anew
we are weeks
from the formal ending
yet close friends, still, remarkably
and as I wept
I honored the moment
and heard the words anew
for isn’t that
the point of love
to be shattered
and I healed
through your words
and that moment
