A poem remembers
the color of her eyes,
a clear daytime sky

A poem celebrates joy
the hydrangea becomes
a sister in the fertile garden

A poem cries
at her mother’s service
memories flood her vision

A poem loves
placement of sensory sounds
painted on the page

A poem smiles
sunshine lifts the coleus leaf,
sea green outlined in purple

A poem mourns
the decision made
for comfort care only

A poem knows no time,
before or after does not exist,
it is only this moment.
