recently told me a personal story about how he worked full-time
and a half while his wife went to school and finished up a Ph.D.
in the Italian Language and Italian literature.
Soon after, she divorced him, took a teaching job at a college
in Rome, Italy, and left him with their three young children.
And when I asked why she divorced him, he answered
that he didn’t really know.
Then, when he confessed that he was still in love with her,
he pretty much left me speechless.
He ended by saying, “The positive part is that my children
are doing well, have professional careers, and I’m still here
in one piece. . . relatively.”
