Sorry, can’t take all
you vivid orange leaves home.
I walk away knowing
you’ll spend another night
out here in the autumn chill.
But look, I love the ducks too
yet I’m not taking them home
—not a single one.

Like the arctic blue sky.
Love to take home a bit
—no way. Besides,
the yellow bouquet in a vase
on my table might fear
she wasn’t enough to keep me
happy at least for one day.
Good lord, I’m not a slut!
