To what safe harbor will we sail
What sanctuary; if the dam should break
Letting loose a raging flood
To the howling wind I’ll raise my voice
The broken branch won’t break me
Where then does the fault lie?
If upon myself I look, I look to all
Each governed by the pride
That comes before a fall
Will we see a mountain left to climb?
A river yet to cross?
Will we hear a voice that lives on
Long after we are gone?
Jeff Sommer has been writing for many years, in different forms, but poetry was his first, and he has returned to it. He writes in both rhyme and free verse, and in a variety of themes. He thanks you for supporting and promoting the importance of poetry.
