Cycling around the lake, balancing
between a warm November afternoon
and a da Vinci blue sky, I measure
passing time. There are still some golds
and reds in the fading leaves. Mallards
and Canada geese splash towards bread
tossed to them by children,
as I once did,
as earth and the rest circle the sun.
I am mesmerized as lake becomes
mirror reflecting treetops and clouds.
Time spirals away; I’m suspended,
moving inside the reflection,
continuing around the lake
which seems to elongate
until I’m rising from earth
into the da Vinci blue sky.
