I have raved about your cranberry bread before;
however, this season it is nothing less than an ingot
of the divine taste of heaven. It is like no other
cranberry bread I have eaten and savored:

delirious with the wildness
of the piquant cranberry, tempered with
the pliant but crisp bread crust, more a dessert
than a simple bread, but simply an elation

of a breakfast loaf, a veritable baker’s success—
a gift wrapped in tin foil, tied with a ribbon, under
which is placed a sprig of bittersweet—
each thin slice (since it must last) of fruit and nut

meant to be buttered and consumed, only with
one’s eyes closed, bite by delicious bite.
