Every now and then you find things,
And here is something I ran across
Just the other day. This small,
Ceramic owl with slot for coins –
An Owlie Bank-
That we once newly-weds would use
For fines for making puns-
The Pun Fund. Inside there were some coins.
The most were nickels, with one
Half-dollar piece and two suspicious pennies,
All of which together has somehow
Made its way unbroken and for long unused
Through several moves and many years.
I just chipped in a few more nickels,
Just in case. Some people
Never learn their lesson.
