I didn’t quite understand what came to be inevitable about my world
It was grey – the sidewalks, the streets, the buildings, even the schools
My ball field was a paved square in front of the school’s windows
Even with the Lone Ranger riding the range on the radio
Life Magazine picturing a movie star’s home in Hollywood
My day, my mind was grey until…
Dad took me to Yankee Stadium and outside still the cement grey wall
Yet once inside never ever so much green
Dad, I’ve never seen anything like it
Then he says something that was so unlike him
Remember we went to a place together
where there was no place left to go
