Sometimes I have to write about what’s on my heart in a string of words. Penning one word tugs on a longer string and peels back the layer of words that guard my heart. Once the words are unraveled, the poem within reveals itself in more crystallized form – the heart pearl.

Jennifer Gurney lives in Colorado where she teaches, paints, writes and hikes.
