Our mission is to create lifelong learners
–Maryland Humanities Council

As it becomes more and more difficult
to read or hear, I continue to learn

when I need to say No
and when to say Yes,

how to be content
with owning my anger

without allowing anger
to own me.

To slow down
and still show up,

to cultivate
a more tender heart,

to practice stillness
even as I re-calibrate

my clumsy engagement
with the world,

to bend gently,
as a tree bends with the wind,

to remember gratitude,
over and over again.
