Head in hands resting
on elbows propped on knees
of long legs
crossed on meditative ground.
A moment of departure
travels toward a destination
in days when despair spreads across chasms of emptiness,
where fear screams silently to forget,
when I lift my head
from scolding winds
and a rope of tears
moisten newborn petals
to bow to thirsty roots,
awaken the garden.
What joy . . .
the breath of second chance presents.
