There is power in silence,
In the pauses between utterances
Filled with infinite possibilities,
Where myriad images parade in hues somber or entreating, threatening or celebrating
While meaning hangs in the balance, teetering
Do they claw and climb over one another in the listener’s ear,
Draining confidence, building hope, deepening despair
Chaining the will
Until the silence relents, surrendering its dominance to speech?
