and sprawling, sing of a wild shadowy
wood. Here, gentian and azaleas disperse
a scent that an undisturbed forest only
may find. Fauna hides close to earth’s drumming
snuggling deep into thicket and briar.
So dense and ethereal, a humming
of pristine nature is heard in dawn’s fire.
This forest, ancient in longing timber
of covert shelters lends its feral ways
and flora fierce in its savage wonder
envelopes the weald with each growing phase
into a thick wilderness entangled
where nightfall captures the sky star spangled
