From the second story of the restored Stoa
the Temple of Hephaistos seems too far to walk
“I will save it for the next time” I say to myself.
Before the words can settle, I think again
and head off across the Agora’s ancient stones.
Beneath the temple columns I look back
from where I have come
and know there will be fewer next times
