I just reread a
manuscript of poems I had
submitted last month

these poems are some
of my dearest friends in that
they truly know me

it was as if they
came for a visit on a
sunny afternoon

to sit on the porch
in the adirondack chairs
drinking lemonade

picking up right where
we last left off before in
our conversation

so casually
comfortable to finish each
others’ sentences

these poems are
my dear friends who know me well
and I so know them
