An unseen hand
tilts the earth,
dousing the last fires
glowing in the west.
As the fine line between
sky and land disappears,
my little skiff dissolves
in the deepening darkness.
I pole across the shoal
to where my net lies
bobbing in the water,
gliding among the stars
that swirl around me,
traveling in a silence
broken only
by the splash
of a fish.
