Patiently she hangs
until fall’s ripening
when expert hands
carefully clip her cluster

She looked up,
saw him watching her,
and felt naked.

You keep on turning beautiful but useless
cartwheels in the sand

I’ve been spotted wasting time,
drinking a wine far too good for me-all by myself

Scanning my translucent reflection

The rain fell all day
Outside the window
Inside the house

My mind translates their lyric call
into what winged versions of ourselves
