my cat
keeps a close eye on me
since you’re gone
she notices things
like tears and a
broken heart
they say dogs show empathy
and cats are aloof
which may be true in general
but mine
is the sweetest empath
I’ve known
purring now
and making biscuits
while I write this poem
these are
her love
languages
