Folded like a paper doll
not quite ready to be opened
all sharp and pointed angles
I drop my cell phone to the floor.
I’m upside down and turned around
thoughts churning me
by words I’ve read
I need a book instead
Here’s the riddle here’s the ring
what’s the good of anything
mischief makers rule the world
they let you know
with flags unfurled
this is the way to make things great
…better, I think, to peel an orange
and by my eating participate
in something so clear
so close at hand…
my tongue will tell me
I’m balanced again
