Y’all need a receipt?
With that routine query
she hauls away
my goin’ out and doin’ duds,
my airport, hotel, and committee gear,
my struttin’down the street togs,
respectable church suits,
happy-to-be-seen bikini.
So much that was my life, gone,
swept away in a flood of years
with nothing to mark its passing
but this small ritual of surrender
in the lobby of a Goodwill store.
