some days
I sit on the inside of my windows
grief calling to me, loud

other days
I venture out into the world
grief a quiet whisper

some days
it’s a blur
with grief calling and me covering my ears saying la, la, la, la, la

I wish
grief had
a mute button

I want to turn it off
and go back in time
before knowing
