I’m going to let the tears flow
not wipe my eyes
when the moisture blurs my vision
I’m going to let the tears flow
while the tears stain my cheeks
and roll past my lips
gather at the base of my chin
then drop
slowly
I’m going to let the tears flow
when my skin begins to itch
with the muddiness
the lotion-calcium mix
conjoined at the micro level
of existence
chemicals and such
I’m going to let the tears flow
with release, relief, or something of the matter
the tears become the matter
wash away the pain
Who knew that tears brought freedom
if someone had told me,
I would have cried much sooner
