A census question reads: What is your race?
It seeks to know the color of my face
One’s race is oft a cue for hate and fear
This goes against the things that I hold dear
Like life and love and dear fraternity
And coexisting in equality
The racists can all shout and have their say
A human I be and that’s how I’ll stay
You stated, what many are feeling, yet they can’t find the words…until now.
