as I lumber through the astronomy of years
objects within my gravity drift farther away
perhaps the mass of my persona has weakened
much as the ligaments in my knees
perhaps even I as entity sentient and foolish
am spreading out into the cosmos
and the connections I once felt
between me and others have grown tenuous
where have those late night pseudo-philosophical binges fled
where the raucous laughter and playing cards with each creased face
they say dark matter is undetectable but certain
a phantom math that pulls us apart inch by inch
until we are stranded here in the dark of heat death
in this airless void
language is devoid of sound
even fond memory thins out
