I close my eyes
and see
a blackened doorway

with light
bursting through
the edges

I am drawn
toward the light
pulsating with energy

with the single
question beckoning

what life lies
behind
that single
darkened doorway

what joy
would reveal itself
if I were to turn
the doorknob

would the two dancing flames
be there
on the other side of the threshold

joy dancing
fluttering
my life awake

could it be today
could it be
the rest of my life
