You see it when the grandkids begin to grow
Death is around the corner
Why put on a facade?
Aren’t we all at least a little afraid to die?

You can prepare as if you’re a big shot
The old expert about life
It’s a nice costume to put on
But it we can no longer build a fortress

You grow strong enough
to let the children
belong to
someone else

If we can’t hide our aging
I lean towards life
the hardest choice of all
to be a good person

Since you only live once
say to those nearest
You’re okay
Thank you for ‘now’
