The grey-green ground
tinted with brown
brushed the earth
with its dryness.
Orange molasses burnt
into the stretches
it covered. Above-cloud
mountain peaks grapple
with city-templed valleys.
Houses, scrunched together
claustrophobically, are broken
up by empty, roadless
lots. The whole a clay
brown and cherry green
quilt, football field-precise
acres sewn together
to form the vista viewed
through the right corner
window of the plane.
