We are here. We made it.
Yes, the Earth is gone,
but we—the lucky and best—
have come to this place.
We few out-tested, out-bid,
out-smarted the unchosen
to spend years in storage,
months in preparation,
grueling as it has been,
and days arriving on lands
that are new, to plant and harvest,
hunt and fish, to live by the hands
we had forgotten were our own.
The rest of our lives we’ll toil,
suffer, and survive, then die
no differently and with no more
to show for it, than those
we deemed inadequate.
